INSPECTION TECHNICIAN

It is responsible for controlling the expected quality of metal structures at all stages of commissioning, using processes that do not destroy the product, in accordance with the procedures established for which it is certified and the safety rules.

DESCRIPTION OF SIGNIFICANT ACTIVITIES

​

1/Inspection by penetrant and magnetoscopy of metallurgical products

​

  • Prepare the workstation for a penetrant and magnetic particle inspection operation.

  • Establish and draft the intervention procedure in accordance with the requirements of the specifications.

  • Control metallurgical products by penetrant.

  • Check metallurgical products by magnetoscopy.

  • Interpret the indications of lack of a surface check and decide in accordance with the admissibility framework.

  • Examine the control minutes in accordance with an established procedure.

  • Participate in safety site visits and implementation of corrective actions and preventive measures.

  • Report on the progress of its activity

 

RESPONSIBILITIES AND SCOPE FOR ACTION

  • Perform checks on pipe or metal structure welds at the end of manufacture or during periodic monitoring in order to guarantee the quality of manufacture of a component or its robustness in operation

  • Guarantees compliance with human safety rules and environmental rules.

  • Inform the constructor or customers of the compliance or non-compliance decisions it makes and the consequences they may cause

SPECIFIC SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

 

  • Technical vocabulary adapted to the field of activity

  • Knowledge and application of QHSE rules and standards

  • Knowledge of problem solving methods and tools

  • Knowledge of dimensional control methods, geometry

  • Knowledge of materials structure control methods

  • Knowledge of welding processes

  • Control knowledge: Penetrant, Spectrometer, Ultrasonic, and Visual Process Proficiency:  Radiography, Penetrant, Magnetic Particle Testing, Ultrasound and Non-destructive Control Equipment

  • Holds COFREND certification in one of the control methods according to the certification levels (from 1 to 3)

  • Electrical and mechanical authorisations

  • Proficiency in office and computer tools

  • Written and oral communication/ reports, reports, design of analysis protocols, passing instructions

  • Job-specific skills: possibility of: work under ionizing radiation, work at heights, work in confined spaces, wearing specific personal protective equipment
